Cloud Cult and Metropolis teach Jordan a lesson.

So I know I have been neglecting the blog. But I’m pretty sure you guys know that too. It is kinda obvious.

ANYWAY I have been really busy being back to school. I get to plan out a film festival here, AND I am getting music submissions from new and exciting artist’s on a daily basis. So it’s pretty sweet and for those of you that know me you could probably tell that I am having a lot of fun with it.

Back to the point of this blog, connecting the arts. Last night I finally watched Metropolis from Fritz Lang, which I still can’t believe that was my first viewing. It is kind of really incredible. I highly recommend.

Anyway, the main character Freder serves as the linchpin for the upper and the middle class, and althought this is a silent film we are left with the refrain of, “there can be no understanding between the hand and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator.”

Very powerful, I can finally understand how it is regarded as one of, if not the best, dystopian movie. Because it is a silent film, that phrase is what the title card reads, and just having it in that text is very very impressive. Beautiful movie, and a great message… and keep your eyes open for the Argentinian cut that’s over 210 minutes… coming around 2008 or 9.

In addition to that, there is a great song by The Cloud Cult called “When Water Comes To Life”

Here is a shitty video of someone on youtube, but the song quality is all I care about…

Either way we are reminded that we are essentially the same. Which is a great idea to take with you whenever you step outside of your sweetly air-conditioned room; I know I do.
